Why can’t you reach your goal ?
“Small goals, this is one of those things that a lot of people don’t realize they’re messing up on. Having unrealistic goals is what sets the majority of people in life to a place where they aren’t going to progress. The big thing about having a small goal is that they are doable, and small can mean different things for everyone.
It just depends on where you are in your life. Other realistic goals will make you feel like a failure because you can’t reach your goals, and that’s not a good feeling. So, a good thing to do right off the bat in the morning is to make your bed, just so you can have a goal finished right away and you can have your momentum started. Let’s say you want to start running, all you gotta do is put your shoes on. If your shoes are on, what are you gonna do? Just gonna take them off? Now you’re probably gonna go for a run.
It’s all about taking the initial step. I remember when I personally started meditation, I started with doing two minutes a day and now I can do 10 on average. Think about that, that’s five times more than I could do in the past. Could you imagine being five times more effective at something? Kind of crazy, isn’t it? They say ‘shoot for the moon and land among the stars.’ What happens when you shoot for the moon and you land among the impoverished? A big issue we have nowadays is that people don’t like to try at things that seem unrealistic, and it’s a very real reality because we live in a world of instant gratification.

So, anything that isn’t instant will be automatically ignored, and that’s why unrealistic goals are hard for people nowadays, including me. I personally aim for small goals. Imagine you have someone who’s anorexic and they said, ‘I’m gonna be a bodybuilder.’ Do you believe them? I bet you don’t. Let’s say they said they’re gonna get five more pounds gained. Do you believe that? Yeah, that’s reasonable.
You just gotta aim for goals that you can personally obtain within one month time frame. That should be your max time frame. You can, of course, think in the future, but for goal-wise, keep it realistic in a manageable time. The power momentum is something that most people don’t even realize is a thing. Let’s just say today you do 10 push-ups, tomorrow you start lifting some weights, the next day you go to the gym, day after that you get an exercise routine. Of course, it’s not gonna compound that quick, but you could always get better over time, and that’s how all these people started.
You see any person who is physically fit, they weren’t born like that, they worked hard for it. It’s all a momentum thing. If you can do something today, you can do more tomorrow. Like, let’s just say I give you an example of you gotta wake up early tomorrow, you gotta work out, take a cold shower, meditate, and make a healthy breakfast all before work tomorrow. Think you could do it? No, yeah, I don’t think I could either. But let’s just say I gave you, uh, this: meditate for one minute, take a cold shower for 10 seconds. Think you could do that? I bet you could.
These are all obtainable, and that’s why you want to be realistic because realistic goals are what progress you. When things get easier and easier, and you get to a point where things most people struggle with are easy for you because you’ve hit a point in your life where you are at such a high level of effectiveness that other people see you as absolutely crazy. And just remember, nobody else can do it for you.”
